Everything you need to know to sew an owl sculpture is in this 31 page pdf loaded with photos (there are more than 130), instruction, tips and tricks as well as a supply and resource lists. Every detail is explained and each element is broken down into easy to follow steps. You will learn to sew, stuff and sculpt the body shape, create layers of intricate looking feathery textures, make talons and create hooded glowering eyes.

This is a sewing pattern (downloadable PDF) and is about 5 MB in size. You will need Adobe Reader (free) to view this pattern. The templates makes an owl approximately 9 inches tall.

Skill level is advanced beginners (if you have a lot of patience with yourself) and above – requiring basic sewing skills – the owls can be sewn entirely by hand or parts can be machine sewn.

The owl was so much fun to make. The directions were great. I didn’t do any hand sewing to construct it, but did add embroidered stitches to look like pin feathers. I also wired the owl by his talons to a driftwood half log I scavenged from the beach, and mounted the whole thing on a live edge walnut slab I finished so he can be viewed from front and back. I also used a couple of mushrooms I made using Ann’s pattern on the front and back of the driftwood perch.

I just finished my first dastardly lil dude, and I am thrilled with him. The pattern is immaculate, the instructions detailed. There are so many clever little pieces in here that I've never seen before, like the leg darts, that just make this little guy so perfectly shaped. Would highly recommend.
